Smart Grid Forecasting: A Revolutionary Shift from Stations to Grid Points
According to the China Meteorological Administration's plan, by the end of December this year, the unified data-source "one-network" gridded forecasting service for China's weather prediction will officially go live. This network boasts a spatial resolution of 5 km × 5 km and can provide hourly updates of weather forecasts for the next 10 days, enabling the public to access location-based, highly detailed meteorological services anytime and anywhere. This marks a significant shift in China's weather forecasting, moving from traditional station-based predictions to grid-based, advanced forecasting methods. Let’s take a comprehensive look at intelligent grid forecasting and explore this exciting new service together.
Focused on weather alerts, HuaTeng Microwave is always moving forward.
In recent years, extreme weather and climate events—such as heavy rainfall, flooding, droughts, typhoons, heatwaves, cold snaps, and sandstorms—have been occurring more frequently and with increasing intensity. What were once considered "once-in-decades" or even "once-in-a-century" occurrences now seem to be becoming far more common. The World Meteorological Organization has called for enhanced collaboration among national and regional meteorological and hydrological services, disaster management agencies, and development organizations, emphasizing the critical importance of early warning systems. This is essential for improving disaster prevention, preparedness, and response efforts.

40 Years of Weather Radar: From "Bringing In" to "Going Out"
The term "radar" originates from the English abbreviation for "Radio Detection and Ranging," and it was initially used for military purposes. Then, in 1941, the British began using radar to monitor storms, marking the beginning of meteorological radar development. Because of its critical role in short-term, nowcasting weather forecasting, weather radar is also regarded as one of the key "trump cards" in modern meteorological operations.

Accelerate the Advancement of Meteorological Modernization — An Interpretation of the "China Meteorological Administration's Opinions on Strengthening Meteorological Disaster Prevention, Mitigation, and Relief Efforts"
Recently, the "Opinions of the China Meteorological Administration on Strengthening Meteorological Disaster Prevention, Mitigation, and Relief Efforts" were officially released, outlining that by 2020, the capacity for monitoring, forecasting, and issuing early warnings for meteorological disasters will be significantly enhanced. Public coverage of warning information is expected to reach over 95%, and a comprehensive risk map of meteorological hazards—characterized by broad coverage and strong targeted accuracy—will be established. By 2035, the capabilities and standards for monitoring, forecasting, and early warning of meteorological disasters will see a substantial leap forward, while the rule of law, standardization, and modernization of disaster prevention, mitigation, and relief efforts will be markedly improved.
